Frequently Asked Questions

PHOTO UPLOADING TIPS

  • What file type’s do you accept and what resolution should my file be?

We accept your files in Jpeg, Tiff, PDF, BMP and PNG format. Our preferred file to use is JPEG using our upload tool.

The ideal resolution is 300 DPI, but you can still achieve great clear results with a resolution around 150 DPI.  Not to worry if you aren't big into colour space, your camera produces images in a colour space we can handle (typically sRGB).

If you prefer, you can also upload images in Adobe RGB, or any other popular RGB Colour Profile. Please do not upload images in the CMYK colour space.

  • Is my photo high enough quality?

For the best quality print, use the original high resolution JPEG file from your phone or camera.

Photos taken off of social media sites are sometimes lower resolution and these websites actually downsize and compress the images.

Downsizing and compressing will degrade the quality of the photos in order to create a smaller image size for storage. Use the original file you used to upload to social media sites for the best results.

If you must take a photo from Facebook or Instagram, we recommend ordering a smaller sized print, such as a 7″ x 5″ in order to maintain a clearer image. Likewise, photos texted to you from friends are also downsized, and may not be the ideal print quality. Ask your friend to Airdrop or email the original photos at their “actual size”.

  • Can I drop my image off at your shop?

Yes, any time between 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday.

  • Can you add text to my image?

No, we do not do this for online orders.

Adding text to an image for print is best done using a graphic design program like Photoshop or a free web-based program Pixlr or Prisma. These programs will allow you to add stylized text to your photo and do so while maintaining a good level of resolution.

Avoid using a word processing or slideshow program (i.e., Word or Power Point) to add text, since it will not make a high-resolution file, and your print will likely end up pixelated.

  • Is my image being cropped?

There is a possibility your image may have to be cropped. The reason cropping may be required on your image is because the aspect ratio (shape) of your image is different than the aspect ratio of the print size chosen.

Cropping is performed in the Photo Image Editor after uploading your image. You can tell if your image is being cropped in the preview of your image by shifting the image around within the preview box (the darker areas show where the image will be cropped). If the image moves within the box without any zoom applied, the image is being cropped. You can position your image within the box to apply your preferred cropping, or you can select a different size that matches, or is closer to, the aspect ratio of your image.

ORDERING

  • What is your order turnaround time?

It generally takes 5 to 7 business days for production, and 2 to 5 days for shipping to most major cities in Canada. Remote locations may take up to 9 to 10 days for shipping.

Please keep in mind that these are just average times and also depend on the courier’s volume. Certain times of the year are busier than others (i.e., special holidays) and your order may take longer during these times.
